Three Poems for November

Posted on Nov 15, 2020 by in Poetry |

November Leaves

The days are getting shorter. And colder. The nights are creeping ever so forward. Here are three poems to enjoy with a warm cup of hot chocolate and a blanket.

Each of these poems follows a basic understanding. There’s no theme connecting them, other than the universal themes that surround all poetry.

We’ll Get By deals with disappointment and acceptance.

What Is It All For wonders about life’s purpose and our trials and tribulations.

It’s Okay deals with the need for confidence and optimism in our day-to-day.

We’ll Get By

We’ll get by
Oh, what’s the use of making up
When you ain’t got no legs
We’ll get by
Oh, if you’re asking me
Say what you mean
Our hearts got cure
And we’re getting old
There ain’t much I can do
Now I’ve learned my lesson
When you don’t speak the words
That could speak my language
You’re still asking
Would you teach me a thing
Said it out loud
But I don’t dare
It’s the only language left
That understands
Nobody has to believe in my faith
It hears what I hear
And now there’s another that understands
So many voices
It can’t be unseen
I only know what’s in front of me
I can’t fight it.

What Is It All For

What do I do when the nights, they’re long and cold.
What do I do when I’ve come so far in life?
What is it that makes you think that life is worth living?
What is it all for?
There comes a time when all the grand schemes, schemes, schemes in the world
Come undone, there’s a place to go Find a brand new start.

It’s Okay

Your voice
Don’t let your hair down
Don’t let your eyes criticize
Don’t be afraid to criticize yourself
It’s okay
To be the only one
Don’t be afraid to be alone
Don’t be afraid to be with someone special
Your voice
Don’t let your hair down
Don’t let your eyes criticize
Don’t be afraid to criticize yourself
It’s okay
Just be the only one
Sometimes I find myself
Trying to find a way, I try
Don’t be afraid to criticize
Don’t be afraid to be with someone special
So soon I got you down.
