BUBBLES OF PERCEPTION
Exploring the Limits and the Future of Human Perception Bubbles of Perception is a book that explores the limits of human perception and how those limits affect our ideas of logic, reason and all other phenomena. It can be understood as both a type of of anti-philosophy and as a manifesto of Rebhan's ideas relating to his creations. The book explores how all of humanity's explanations and theories about subjects like life, the cosmos, science, logic, mathematics, philosophies, religions and everything else are unprovable and baseless. It explains why the very concept of proof is illogical and, in turn, why logic itself is illogical. It explains why there can never be any such thing as a "final answer", "absolute truth" or "irrefutable fact" in any question, subject or situation. Combining findings from areas such as cognitive science, psychology and physics, and re-examining the "foundations" of logic, this book shows that no matter how carefully they are examined, our experiences, thoughts, imaginations, and even our ability to perceive reasoning are trapped by the mental prison of human perception. The book provides a brief, concise and easily readable introduction to this subject, that can be appreciated by the general public and scholars alike. It introduces new ways to reconsider age-old philosophical questions and to reinterpret many contemporary issues, revealing unusual insights along the way. Bubbles of Perception concludes with a short discussion of how our perceptual limitations could be dramatically expanded by transforming ourselves into a post-human species. |
