BIO     (en francais)

Paul Rebhan's works are designed to challenge and expand perception.  These works take many forms: writings, musical compositions and sound paintings, visual paintings and drawings, conceptual art, social experiments, performance art, architecture and sculpture, etc.  In general, these all can be called perceptual art.

Noted by the New York Times as one of the "unorthodox geniuses toiling away in their labs and libraries, bent on changing the world," Rebhan first gained international attention in 1994 after secretly installing one of his own paintings in New York's Museum of Modern Art.  Rebhan's painting stayed on display for two days alongside works by other groundbreaking artists including Picasso, Warhol and Dali.  He became the first person known to ever smuggle an artwork into a museum.

Since then he has appeared in, and produced many art shows including the New York Erotic Art Expo (tm), and was selected to contribute a painting for the United Nations' 50th anniversary.

Rebhan's music and sound paintings have been played around the world on radio and in live performances.  He is the co-founder/inventor of
QUIET PARTIES and the international phenomenon of "Silent Dating," where people socialize in nightclubs by writing notes instead of speaking.  He is the founder of RENTAPAL.COM: an art project/public service that sells friendship.  He is also a published writer and author of BUBBLES OF PERCEPTION, a book that introduces a new way of comprehending the limits of human perception.

He has consulted for companies including Disney, Viacom, Time-Warner and American Express.  He's been featured in many newspaper and magazine articles, has appeared internationally on television and radio, and has even performed onstage with Eminem.
